Stand Back

Montreal's monthly queer/female comedy showcase, STAND BACK, returns for its 8th episode! This is a night of purely brilliant stand-up comedy: no misogyny, no racism, no homophobia, no transphobia, just comedy gold by the best comedians in town. Think of it as luxury comedy... except it's only $5/PWYC (no one will be turned away for lack of funds)!

Trannavision: Mommie Dearest

The time has come for us to tackle the most iconic bad movie of all time... MOMMIE DEAREST! It does not get any more crazy, terrifying, and hysterical than Faye Dunaway as the Hollywood legend Joan Crawford. Whether you've seen the movie before or not, this might be the best Trannavision yet and you cannot miss it!

This show is regularly sold-out, so we encourage you to make a reservation; to reserve seats please email: trannavision@gmail.com

For those of you who don't know, here's how Trannavision works: we screen a wonderfully awful/cult classic movie and the funniest people in the city provide live commentary on the film as we all watch it together. In short, it's the best time ever. Just come and check it out!

Sainte Celine: A New, New Day

You're invited to Celine Dion's 50th Birthday!
Tickets: sainteceline.brownpapertickets.com

Céline Dion—golfer, singer, mother—turns 50 on March 30th and comedians/pop culture savants, Tranna Wintour and Thomas Leblanc, are marking the once-in-a-lifetime occasion with an extravagant, hysterical show that celebrates and (lovingly) desecrates the queen of Québec. Sainte Céline: A New, New Day is an entirely new show that promises to be even bigger and better than its predecessor (which garnered rave reviews and ran for three sold-out nights in OFF JFL/Zoofest 2016). It features an all-star cast of Montreal’s greatest talent from the worlds of music, drag, dance, theatre, and comedy, lead by the incomparable Crystal Slippers, who plays the role of Céline to absolute perfection. From Eurovision to her tacky wedding to manager/creator René Angelil; from “My Heart Will Go On” to her battles with infertility and the very public grieving of René’s passing, until now, most importantly, in her latest incarnation as handbag designer, we have always been there for Céline and she has always been there for us. The point being: of course we have to celebrate her 50th birthday. How could we not?

Chosen Family: IRL

We all probably spend too much time online, reading the news, aimlessly scrolling through Instagram, sexting, listening to our favorite podcasts… but isn’t it so much better and more thrilling to experience things IRL?

On February 19th, Chosen Family invites you all to the Phi Centre for a very special live audience recording of their next episode. Like the podcast itself, this event will feature live comedy, live music, an in-depth conversation with an incredible guest (you’ll have to stay tuned for their identity) and of course, your fabulous hosts, Tranna Wintour and Thomas Leblanc, in the flesh! It’s going to be so real, you can reach out and touch them (but don’t).

Since the podcast launched in August of last year, Chosen Family has received glowing reviews and welcomed some truly extraordinary guests including Jen Kirkman, John Cameron Mitchell, Eileen Myles, Christiane Charette, and Sandra Bernhard, to name just a few. Chosen Family: IRL promises to be a hilarious, irreverent, and uplifting night, centered around art, love, and drama—it’s the family gathering you actually don’t want to miss!
